THE WINNERS ARE BETWEEN 19 AND 26 YEARS OLD
THEY TRIUMPHED OVER 100 NEW TALENTS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD
Roma, November 25th, 2009 - Common denominator: youth and talent. And so, the youngest finalists won the 2009 SACRED MUSIC International Competition, the only competition all over the world which is conceived for and dedicated to the young solo sacred music singers, during the "Gran Gala" - Gran Final, which was held in Rome in the SS. XII Apostoli Basilica, on November 7th.
First prize was awarded to the Hungarian Bass Levente Pàll, 24, who had excellently performed the Confutatis from Verdi's Requiem. The 2nd prize was awarded to the very young French Soprano Melissa Laura Petit, only 19, who has performed "Et incarnatus est" from Mozart's Mass KV 427, really impressive for her young age.
The 3rd prize was awarded to Italy, which was represented by the Countertenor Flavio Ferri Benedetti, who was greatly applauded during his "Fac ut portem" from Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. The special prizes "Young Promise" and "Oratorio" were awarded respectively to the Israeli male soprano David Feldman, 23, with a piece from Händel's Messiah and to the German Baritone Maximilian Lika, 24, who performed a touching performance of "Gott sei mir gnadig" from F.
